Football Crop Top

p.s   I am wearing shorts here!

My boyfriend gave me this t-shirt a few months ago, and since then its just been laying around my room. It's way too big to actually wear but I love it. It's surprisingly from 1997 and so I couldn't throw it out. Crop tops have been all the rage recently so I decided I would make a cute football crop top with this oversized men's t-shirt. And it was super easy to do!

Mini Skirt to Mini Top

This purple skirt has a really cute aztec-ish pattern, but I really don't need another mini skirt, so I figured I'd turn it into a cute top! I'm a little tired of backless/back cut-outs so I figured I would switch it up and try a cut out in the front.

Shoes That Make You See Stars

I found these plain old shoes in my closet today and decided I would do something with them. One of my good friends from school, Julia, asked me to do something with a galaxy print, so here it is!

Color Block Dress Up-Cycle

Before & After

I picked up this dress because I liked the material and the colors. I think the color blocking is also pretty clever, and luckily for me it fit pretty well. I was able to easily transform it from a little girl's dress to a cute cocktail dress. Once I got started working on the dress I realized that it was most likely home made. The zipper was hand sewn (which I later machine sewed to keep it in place, as it was coming off a bit), and the seam allowances weren't serged or finished in anyway so they were unraveling, as well as the fact that the lining was a strange green color. Nevertheless, whoever made the dress did a great job, but I still like it a lot better now that I've altered it!

DIY Glitter Heels

Glittery shoes are clearly nothing new, they've been in stores and all over Pinterest for quite some time now. They've been popping up so frequently that I decided to give it a shot. I found these not so glamourous white kitten heels, and despite their peeling soles and used look, I figured they would do!
A little bit of hot glue for the soles, and a little Mod Podge and glitter to spice things up and they now look as good as new!

Rorschach Inkblot Hoodie

Inspired by the beauty of the Rorschach inkblot test, I decided to embellish a plain gray hoodie I had. To create the Rorschach embellishment on the back I used the reverse appliqué process which I found here on the blog Sweet Verbena. My hoodie needed a little TLC but now its super cute! Wasted Trousers to High Waisted Shorts

Turning old women's trousers into cute high waisted shorts is the perfect, and easy, DIY for summer! It's the first pair of shorts I've made, denim cut-offs don't count, and they are just adorable.

Vintage Dress to Modern Top

I found this green dress from the early 80's at the dump near my grandmother's house on Martha's Vineyard. Read my earlier post to learn more about the FREE! (and clean) clothes I picked up there. When I first saw it I wasn't sure what it was but I liked the color of it so I figured I would find something to do with it.

Once Upon A Time...

Before I started college last September, the only sewing I had ever done was on paper...

I lived abroad during my first two years of high school and studied Art at the GCSE level in the United Kingdom. For those of you that aren't familiar with the system, its similar to the American A.P (Advanced Placement) courses. One of the unit topics was "city life" and so it began...my interest in the people flowing through the city and what their story was. I photographed plenty of people in the city, and became interested in who they are. Isn't that what fashion is? It's who we are. Some say we are what we eat, I say we are what we wear.
